Brief Project Description:

The IVROP WIOA RN Mentorship program provides 20 to 26 WIOA eligible adults with a variety of services including internship and classroom training, National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) preparation, and job placement services.  Participants will receive classroom training which includes lecture on theory, skills, clinical mentoring, NCLEX review, and simulations.  Participants also complete internship training hours with various mentors at local healthcare facilities including hospitals, clinics, and medical centers.  Other services provided include: supportive services, employability services, job placement services, and follow up services post program completion.

Description of Services:

The IVROP WIOA RN Mentorship program provides 320 hours of classroom training which includes lecture on theory, skills, clinical mentoring, NCLEX review, and simulations. 120 internship training hours with various mentors at local healthcare facilities including hospitals, clinics, and medical centers.  Supportive services related to the nursing profession are offered to participants throughout their term in the program as well as intensive case management support from staff for all program related needs.  Employability services will be provided to participants through workshops with lecture on topics such as resume development, customer service, professionalism, work ethics, job search, job retention, and mock interviews.  Placement services including job leads and potential job interviews will be provided to participants that successfully complete their course of instruction and receive their Registered Nurse license through the California Board of Registered Nursing.  Lastly, follow-up services will be conducted for all participants for up to 12 months post program completion. 

Project goal(s):

Enroll 20 – 26 4th semester registered nurse students. Provide NCLEX preparation classes and tutoring services to participants to assist all program participants with passing NCLEX exam. Provide job placement services to participants who have passed the NCLEX exam. Provide follow up services to all participants for a period of 12 months post program completion.

Eligibility/Targeted participants:

20 – 26 4th semester registered nurse students. Participants must apply at their local Americas Job Center of California (One-Stop Center).
