Project Description

The IVROP WIOA LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) Mentorship program provides15 to 20 WIOA eligible adults(3rdsemester Imperial County vocational nursing students) with a variety of services including internship and classroom training, National Council Licensure Examination-Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN) preparation, educational workshops, and job placement services. 

Description of Services

Participants receive 320 hours of classroom training which includes lectures on theory, skills, clinical mentoring, NCLEX-PN review, and simulations. Participants complete a minimum of 120 internship training hours with various mentors at local healthcare facilities including hospitals, clinics, and medical centers. Supportive services related to the nursing profession are offered to participants throughout their term in the program as well as intensive case management support from staff for all program related needs. Employability services are provided to participants through workshops with lectures on topics such as resume development, customer service, professionalism, work ethics, job search, job retention, and mock interviews. Placement services including job leads and potential job interviews are provided to participants that successfully complete their course of instruction and receive their Vocational Nurse license through the California Board of Nursing. Follow-up services are conducted for all participants for up to 12 months post program completion.

Length of Funding

Year-round services commence between January 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.
