Project Description

Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program (IVROP) Project ALTO (HIGH) provides needed educational services to Imperial County Behavioral Health consumers by providing General Equivalency Diploma (GED) basic skills course work in reading, writing, math, science and social studies.

Description of Services

The GED is a logical alternative for many of the Imperial County Behavioral Health Services (ICBHS) consumers who have not completed their high school education. A GED will enable ICBHS consumers to complete an educational milestone, progress at work or in a career, and qualify for advanced training and higher educational opportunities. In other words, ICBHS consumers will be empowered to achieve new educational and job opportunities.

Project Goals

Under an Open Entry/Open Exit Model and after a successful completion of GED services through Project ALTO, students will be assisted by Imperial County Behavioral Health Services to take the GED test. The goal is to exit students from the program as soon as they pass the GED exam.

Eligibility/Targeted participants

ALTO’s target population will be students 17 years of age or older who do not have a High School diploma, who are not currently enrolled in a high school and who are currently under ICBHS Wellness Centers.
