Brief Project Description:
The THP-Plus housing program helps former foster youth become productive, responsible and self-sufficient adults. In addition, the program helps participants become successful adults by providing them with housing, employability skills, life skills training, work experience and counseling services.
Description of Services:
THP Plus provides participating youth with a variety of services which will include the following: rental assistance, utility assistance, transportation assistance, life skills training, academic instruction, career exploration and awareness, food vouchers, academic and vocational counseling, mentoring, enhanced academic instruction, leadership development, employability skills and work experience.
Goal 1: The THP-Plus program will assist emancipated foster youth to secure stable housing.
Goal 2: The THP-Plus program will increase the employability of emancipated foster youth.
Goal 3: The THP-Plus program will encourage emancipated youth to further their educational goals.
Goal 4: The THP-Plus participants will be enrolled in Medi-Cal or other private/public health insurance program.
This program services youth between the ages of 18-24 who aged out of foster care or placement at the age of 18 or after. The program prioritizes youth who are homeless or high-risk of being homeless at the time of submitting an application.
Funding for this project is provided by Imperial County Social Services- Child Welfare Services.
Length of Funding:
Funding for Project THP Plus is provided on an annual basis.
