Strong Workforce High School Program (SWP)
IVROP’s Strong Workforce High School Program (SWP), in collaboration with the Imperial County Office of Education and the SWP Consortium, helps high school students explore high-demand careers and prepare for success in college and the workforce. The program focuses on enhancing Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways through work-based learning, employability skill development, and leadership opportunities. A central component of SWP is the placement of Career Specialists who support students and teachers in building awareness of local labor market opportunities and fostering career exploration.
Students participate in industry tours, guest speaker sessions, job shadowing, internships, and real-world projects that connect classroom learning with hands-on experiences. They also receive training in essential workplace skills, including communication, teamwork, and professionalism. Leadership development is supported through Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), where students engage in advocacy, team-building, and competition. These services help students build confidence, explore career paths, and connect with industry partners.

The Strong Workforce Middle School Program introduces students to Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways and future career opportunities through interactive workshops, skill-building activities, and guidance from dedicated Career Specialists. In partnership with the Imperial County Office of Education and the SWP Consortium, the program equips middle school students with knowledge about local industries, essential soft skills, and the educational paths that lead to success. By fostering early engagement and awareness, students begin to connect their interests with meaningful career possibilities.
