Brief Project Description:
Project WORK and WORK-E.S.E. targets the employment needs of families that receive services under the CalWORKs single allocation. Our objective is to provide clients with hands-on experience in real work settings, earning wages and acquiring/enhancing existing skills. IVROP places targeted participants in transformational employment opportunities with job placement services, and referrals to service providers for supportive services.
Brief Description of Services:
Project WORK and WORK-E.S.E. utilize a network of employers that support transformational employment opportunities for customers participating in CalWORKs. Eligible participants may be referred for career technical training opportunities and employment skills strengthening and development. Transformational employment placement and case management are provided to increase unsubsidized employment opportunities.
Project WORK and WORK-E.S.E. have several targeted goals that include providing services for CalWORKs customers in the following areas:
- Certified Nursing Assistant certification
- Retail Trades training
- Subsidized employment-leading to unsubsidized employment
- Expanded subsidized employment
Through Project WORK employment services are provided to CalWORKs customers that have maintained compliance with their designated CalWORKs activities and possess a high school diploma/G.E.D. The WORK-E.S.E. component is designed for underemployed CalWORKs customers to develop consistent and gainful employment.
Project WORK is a contract with the Imperial County Department of Social Services, CalWORKs (California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids). The county utilizes designated AB98 and AB74 allocations from the state to fund this collaborative program.
