Project Mi Familia provides comprehensive parenting education services using the Nurturing Parenting Curriculum. The program conducts home visits, case management, support groups, parent-child visitation observations and coaching as well as assessments.
Description of Services:
Project Mi Familia uses the Nurturing Parenting Curriculum which emphasizes the importance of raising children in a warm, trusting and caring environment. Parents complete thirty hours in a six-week parenting course taught in a group-based program. Classes are available in both English and Spanish. Assessments are given to each parent to identify needs, challenges and strengths. Parent and child visitations are also conducted to observe and coach parents.
The aim of Project Mi Familia is to serve 150 participants per year. The purpose of Project Mi Familia is to reduce and prevent child abuse and maltreatment; help to reunify families; and increase effective parenting practices and improve parent-child relationships.
Mi Familia serves parents under a court-ordered Family Maintenance or Family Reunification plan within the Imperial County.

Length of Funding:
Imperial Valley Regional Occupational Program (IVROP) was awarded Project Mi Familia on February 2013. The program is currently funded through June 2016.
