Workers who think that clothes, grooming, personal habits and general health can’t help – or hurt – when trying to get a good job are only kidding themselves.  In fact, some employers rate their workers’ appearance and grooming habits or employee evaluation forms and use these evaluations in deciding who get a raise or promotion.  Grooming and dress are important for two reasons.

 

 

They also know that people sometimes judge a company by the appearance of its workers.  In deciding who will be promoted, most employers consider appearance.  These employers know that if you look successful, you have a better chance of being successful.

 

DO’S AND DON’TS

 

Supervisors expect their employees to have acceptable hairstyles.  If your hairstyle is offensive to the person in charge, that person will be a lot less likely to promote you or give you a raise.

·        No wild hair colors or styles

·        No body odor

·        No visible tattoos

·        Brushed teeth

·        Clean shaven for males

·        Makeup not overdone for females
