Most people think that our local community college, Imperial Valley College, does not have much to offer and offers limited number of career majors. IVC does offer numerous programs that will cover just about any career interest you might have. IVC also provides many certificate programs that can be completed in a year or less. You can also take different courses to help you make a career decision.
The classes of Imperial Valley College serve several
functions:
Imperial Valley College offers occupational certificates and associate degree programs. To earn an associate degree you must complete the major requirements, the general education requirements, and other specific graduation requirements. Occupational certificate programs do not require general education or other graduation requirements.

Students can usually complete the first two years of a four-year degree program at Imperial Valley College if they are planning to transfer to a campus of either The California State University or the University of California systems. You can complete the lower division general education requirements and most major prerequisites at Imperial Valley College. You would finish your college education at the university you wish to attend after you are accepted. Requirements to transfer from a community college to a university are not as difficult as for high school graduates. Just make sure the courses you take at the community college transfer to the university.
