Mr. Velasquez was managing a full-time career, attending San Diego State University full-time, and raising his children with his wife all at the same time. Later, Mr. Velasquez began to use more of his construction experience with students. He led a community service project in 2003 that is still visible in the form of the “Welcome to Niland” sign. Throughout 2004-2006 Mr. Velasquez worked as a Case Manager and part-time Construction Instructor for IVROP. Mr. Velasquez has been in the construction field for 16 years and has worked as an educator for 12 years. He enjoys mentoring students and helping them learn skills that will lead to careers. He is passionate about his work and continually seeks opportunities to advance his own education. Mr. Velasquez works with a diverse population of students. He also works with a wide range of professionals, counselors, faculty, and teachers. Mr. Velasquez’ secret to success is keeping a positive attitude, being friendly, treating people with respect, and having a good sense of humor.
