ELIGIBILITY

ELIGIBILITY FOR VETERANS WHO HAVE SERVED AT LEAST 180 CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF ACTIVE SERVICE:

  1. SERVICE-CONNECTED DISABLED VETERANS - Veterans who are entitled to compensation under laws administered by the Department of Veterans' Affairs, or individuals who were discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

  2. RECENTLY-SEPARATED VETERANS - Veterans who have separated from the military within 48 months prior to application.

  3. CAMPAIGN VETERANS - Veterans that served on active duty in the United States armed forces during a war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge or medal has been authorized.  (For a list of Wars, Campaigns and expeditions click here.)

  4. VETERANS WITH SIGNIFICANT BARRIERS - "Significant Barrier(s)" is defined as:  Characteristics that may hinder an individual's hiring, promotion, or participation in the labor force (examples).

  5. ELIGIBLE SPOUSES *As defined in the Jobs for Veterans' Act, PL 107-288.

The spouse of any of the following individuals:

  • Any veteran who died of a service-connected disability

  • Any member of the Armed Forces serving on active duty who, at the time of application for assistance under this section, is listed, pursuant to section 556 of title 37 and regulations issued thereunder, by the Secretary concerned in one or more of the following categories and has been so listed for a total of more than 90 days:  (I) missing in action, (II) captured in line of duty by a hostile force, or (III) forcibly detained or interned in line of duty by a foreign government or power.

  • Any veteran who has a total disability resulting from a service-connected disability.

  • Any veteran who died while a disability so evaluated was in existence.
